I don’t usually do sappy and dry but I really wanted to thank you to all of you who posted, messaged, texted and sent your love and support for me before, during and after my first show as well as a couple shoutouts. I can’t lie and say I wasn’t disappointed with my placing but I felt I brought a great ‘package’ to my first rodeo. It was an amazing prep, not that I have a lot to compare it to but from hearing some of the stories from others I think we did it right Caitlyn. Thanks for being a great coach through all my weird texts and emails and at least pretending I wasn’t grossing you out more than usual and laughing instead of throat punching me when I texted you YET AGAIN with a list of food that I may or may not have just finished binging on… damn you Chapman’s Frozen Yogurt and Dill Pickle Crispy Minis!!! You’re not rid of me yet though.. and I’m bound to pick up some new favourite foods! Thanks for giving up the beautiful bedazzled purple suit for me!! (It was handmade by the amazing Lynn @ Fitt4U Designs and Caitlyn wore it at BC Provincials in 2013)
A huge thank you to Shay, (you all remember the little platinum blonde pixie who placed 5th in her division at CBBF Nationals, that I’ve mentioned a time or two in my blog?) Shay has endured a lot in the first couple months of us being friends.. endless texts at 4:30am or 11pm.. whenever I happened to have a question or rant to get off my chest.. lending me her fancy Heart Rate Monitor when I was too cheap to buy my own.. chauffeuring me around FSJ when I came up in October.. and of course talking me off the ledge at time or two when I was having a ‘fuck this shit’ moment/day.
Thank you to a wide array of others (you know who you are) who’ve helped me make it to the stage this year. My short 2013 season was a good one none the less, I hope you’ll all be there for my 2014 season as well!
AND OF COURSE, thank you to my hubby, you’ve been a great supporter despite me showing more than my fair share of 50 shades of Grey-zy (crazy) than I’m probably allowed to have. We have a combined ’100 shades’ allotment and I’d say we share a 60/40 split.. maybe 70/30.. (you’re probably shaking your head at my rediculous thought process and I’ve surely lost more than a few readers with statement but I’m leaving it!) Thanks babe for always letting me soak up all the ‘smell taste’ off your food before you ate it and letting me stare at you in silence while you ate, envisioning myself eating it and feeling just a little less sad that it’d be X amount of days before I could eat it too. PS Smell Taste is a REAL thing!!! Refer to Friends episode where Joey, Chandler & Ross are in the back of the cop car. “Half the taste is in the SMELL!” – Joey
Now that my first show is over I kind of wonder how many of my readers will remain faithful silent observers and who will vanish into the cyber mist. Don’t despair my lovelies, the operative word in that sentence was FIRST. I had such a great experience from driving like a maniac downtown Vancouver, getting a professional fitness photo shoot with the ever flattering Mark Bradfield and Sarah Shea Smith as MUAH, to meeting tons of super sweet and some, somewhat tipsy, fellow competitors and hearing their stories to actually getting to waltz out onto stage and show off my months of hard work was overwhelming for sure, but in a good way. The weekend was so jam packed with ‘firsts’, emotions and memories I couldn’t even figure out where to begin!!! I got home and didn’t get the typical post show blues, mainly because I was in such a sugar coma but mainly all I could think about was when I could redeem myself and do another show. Since I’ve been in prep since about June, Caitlyn (aka Boss, but with a Boston accent so it sounds more like ‘BAAASS’) and I think it’s important to have some offseason and mentally and physically recharge and then hit my 2014 season fresh. The association I currently compete with is BCABBA (British Columbia Amateur Body Building Association) they have added another show to their annual schedule so that’s an awesome additional option but it’s March 1, 2014 meaning I would need to start prep December 1. Skip Christmas and New Years after missing Halloween and Thanksgiving? Unacceptable to me, I can’t miss them all in one year!!
Since Tim wants to do 2 weeks in Mexico this spring end of April and beginning of May and the Western Canadians show is May 17, 2014 I don’t think I can come back from 2 weeks in Mexico and straight into peak week. So that leaves the Northern Classic in Ft St John, June 7,2014. I’m told it’s a smaller but super fun show and conveniently in the Boss’s hometown. I’m shooting to qualify for BCs still at this show for 2014 and they would be 2-3 weeks after the Northern so all the prep would be well worth it and then, god willing, Nationals would be the weekend after BCs, in Edmonton, AB on July 5, 2014
So stay calm n classy my loyal minions because the next 8 months are bound to be a good time and make for solid reads; with bumps, twists, turns, too many lists and plenty of swearing to come. I look forward to amusing you all for many months to come
If you’ve gotten this far I have some good news!!! Best for last right? I also will be doing a giveaway as soon as I’m done trying some products and putting together my reviews… am I saying this as bribery for you all to stick around? Maybe.. will it be in a timely fashion? I hope so but probably not… Will it be super duper fun and awesome? Absolutely!
I light of some recent losses and tragedies in my hometown and in my personal life I am taking December for myself and my family to really enjoy the holidays and focus on them, so if I’m MIA for December you know why.. it’s not that I got frozen into an icecube somewhere with the lovely -23C weather we’re having.
This is the pair of crazies I get to spend everyday with.
